Jimbaran Hotels — Where To Stay in Bali

A curved bay of calm water famous for beachfront seafood dinners.

Best Hotels in Jimbaran

Jimbaran sits on a wide west-facing bay just south of the airport, where the Bukit peninsula joins the rest of Bali. It is best known for grilled seafood served on the sand at sunset, and for a run of large resorts along one of the calmest swimming beaches in south Bali.

Accommodation splits between beachfront resorts on the bay, clifftop and hillside resorts on the southern headland with dramatic views, and mid-range hotels and villas in Jimbaran village and up towards the Bukit.

The combination of a short airport transfer, a swimmable beach and genuine sunset views makes Jimbaran a strong choice for a first or last night in Bali as well as a full stay.

Where To Stay in Jimbaran

Beachfront on the bay is the classic Jimbaran stay: flat sand, gentle water, and the seafood warungs a short walk along the beach. These properties range from large resorts to smaller hotels, and the whole bay faces the sunset.

The southern headland above Jimbaran holds several well-known cliff and hillside resorts with the biggest views and private beach access via buggies or stairs. They are quieter and more secluded, and you will use hotel transport for meals outside the property.

Jimbaran village and the streets inland are where the value sits — mid-range hotels and villas a five to fifteen minute walk from the beach, near the fish market and local restaurants.

Best Areas to Stay in Jimbaran

Jimbaran Bay beachfront
The main beach strip with resorts, seafood warungs and calm swimming. Best for sunset dinners on the sand and easy beach access.
Jimbaran village and the fish market
Local restaurants, the morning fish market and better-value hotels and villas within walking distance of the bay.
Southern headland (towards Ungasan)

Northern Jimbaran and Kedonganan
Closest to the airport, with the largest seafood cafés on the sand and a mix of mid-range hotels.

Hotels in Jimbaran by Budget

Budget

Budget rooms are inland in Jimbaran village and around the university area — small hotels and guesthouses with a pool, a short walk or ride from the beach. There is little cheap accommodation directly on the bay.

Mid-range

Four-star hotels a block or two back from the sand and private-pool villas in the residential lanes. Good value compared with beachfront Seminyak, with the beach still within walking distance.

Luxury

Jimbaran has some of Bali's best-known five-star beach and clifftop resorts, with villa accommodation, private pools, spas and multiple restaurants. Beachfront and clifftop are different experiences here — beachfront means walking to seafood dinners, clifftop means views and buggies.

Best Jimbaran Hotels for Couples, Families & More

Couples
Sunset seafood on the sand, calm water and a quieter night-time atmosphere than Seminyak make Jimbaran a favourite for couples and honeymooners who still want to be close to the airport and the south.
Families
The bay is one of the safest swimming beaches on the west coast, with gentle shore break and shallow entry, and the larger resorts have kids' pools and clubs.
First and last nights
At 10 to 15 minutes from the terminal, Jimbaran is the most pleasant place in Bali to spend the night before an early flight or after a late arrival.
Food-focused travellers
The Kedonganan fish market and the beach grills are the reason many people book here in the first place; staying beachfront means you can walk to dinner.

Things To Do Near Jimbaran Hotels

The bay itself carries most of a Jimbaran stay: swimming, long beach walks between the resorts and the warungs, the early-morning fish market, and sunset seafood at a table on the sand. Several hotels run cooking classes based on the market catch.

Uluwatu Temple, the Bukit surf beaches and the Garuda Wisnu Kencana cultural park are all 15 to 30 minutes south, and Nusa Dua's water sports at Tanjung Benoa are a similar distance east. See things to do in Bali for Uluwatu sunset tours and Bukit day trips with Jimbaran pick-up.

Getting to Jimbaran From Bali Airport

Jimbaran is the closest major accommodation area to Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) — around 5 to 9 kilometres, or 10 to 20 minutes by car outside peak hour.

That short run makes Jimbaran popular for the first night after a red-eye from Australia and for the last night before a morning departure. Most resorts run their own transfer, and pre-booked private transfers are inexpensive on this route.

Traffic on the Jalan Uluwatu junction can slow the trip in the late afternoon, so allow extra time for a departure between 4pm and 7pm.

Frequently Asked Questions About Jimbaran Hotels

Is Jimbaran good for swimming?
Yes. Jimbaran Bay is west-facing and sheltered, with a gentle shore break and shallow entry, which makes it one of the more family-friendly swimming beaches on Bali's west coast.
How close is Jimbaran to the airport?
About 5 to 9 kilometres, typically 10 to 20 minutes by car. It is the closest resort area to the terminal, which is why it is a common first or last night stop.
Is the seafood on Jimbaran beach worth it?
It is the area's signature experience — tables on the sand at sunset with grilled fish, prawns and squid, mostly clustered at Kedonganan and along the bay. Prices are per kilo, so confirm the weight and price before ordering.
Is Jimbaran quieter than Seminyak or Kuta?
Considerably. Jimbaran has restaurants and resort bars but almost no club scene, and evenings on the bay are calm. Travellers wanting nightlife usually stay in Seminyak instead.
Can you walk around Jimbaran?
You can walk the beach and the village near the bay, but the headland resorts and the road south towards Uluwatu need transport. Footpaths outside the beach area are limited.
Is Jimbaran or Nusa Dua better for a resort holiday?
Nusa Dua is more enclosed and has more large five-star resorts with kids' clubs; Jimbaran has sunset views, seafood on the sand and a closer airport run. Families wanting the calmest water often choose Nusa Dua, couples often choose Jimbaran.
