The Classic Bali Honeymoon Split
The formula that works: four nights inland around Ubud, then five or six nights on the coast. Ubud gives you jungle valleys, river-view villas and a slower start; the coast delivers sunsets, beach clubs and the celebratory half of the trip.
If you only want one base, Uluwatu is the most romantic single choice in Bali — clifftop resorts, dramatic sunsets and some of the island's best fine dining, with the trade-off that you'll drive to reach most things.
Where To Stay
Private pool villas are the signature Bali honeymoon experience, and Bali does them better than almost anywhere. Look for a villa with a genuinely private outlook rather than one overlooked by neighbouring properties.
Seminyak suits couples who want restaurants and nightlife on the doorstep. Nusa Dua is more polished and resort-focused. Jimbaran pairs quiet beach with the island's best-known seafood dining.
Small Things Worth Arranging
Tell the property it's your honeymoon when you book. Bali hotels are generous with upgrades, room decoration and welcome amenities, but almost never offer them unprompted.
Book the headline experiences — a clifftop dinner, a floating breakfast, a couples' spa afternoon — before you arrive. The best slots at the best venues go weeks ahead in dry season.
Arrange a private transfer for arrival. Starting a honeymoon in a taxi queue after a six-hour flight sets the wrong tone.
