What To Expect On Arrival
After immigration and baggage collection at Ngurah Rai International Airport, you'll walk through a busy arrivals hall where drivers wait behind a barrier. A pre-booked transfer means someone is holding a board with your name, so you skip the taxi queue and the negotiation entirely.
Travel time to Sanur is typically 30-50 minutes, though Bali traffic is unpredictable — allow extra time in the late afternoon, and expect a slower run on Friday and Sunday evenings.
The Drive To Sanur
Drivers follow the By Pass Ngurah Rai east around Denpasar. It is one of the better roads on the island and traffic generally moves, with the usual slow patch through the Sesetan and Renon junctions.
Sanur runs as a single long strip parallel to the beach, so the difference between the northern and southern ends is around 10 minutes of driving. If you are catching a fast boat, Sanur Harbour has its own dedicated access.
Sanur Transfer Tips
- Best-value route if you are island-hopping — you can transfer straight to the harbour on departure day.
- The beachfront path is flat and continuous, which makes Sanur the easiest area for reduced mobility.
- Early-morning boat departures mean an airport transfer the day before, not the same morning.
