What To Expect On Arrival

After immigration and baggage collection at Ngurah Rai International Airport, you'll walk through a busy arrivals hall where drivers wait behind a barrier. A pre-booked transfer means someone is holding a board with your name, so you skip the taxi queue and the negotiation entirely.

Travel time to Canggu is typically 45-75 minutes, though Bali traffic is unpredictable — allow extra time in the late afternoon, and expect a slower run on Friday and Sunday evenings.

The Drive To Canggu

The route runs up Sunset Road then west through Kerobokan and Berawa. Canggu's main arteries — Jalan Pantai Berawa, Jalan Batu Bolong and the Shortcut — are single-lane and scooter-dense, and roadworks or a wedding procession can add half an hour without warning.

Canggu is spread out. Berawa, Batu Bolong, Pererenan and Echo Beach are all called Canggu but sit several slow kilometres apart, so confirm which one your accommodation is in before quoting a travel time.

Canggu Transfer Tips

  • Allow up to two hours in peak afternoon traffic even though the distance is modest.
  • The Shortcut road is genuinely narrow — some drivers refuse it in a large van.
  • Pererenan and Echo Beach add 15 to 25 minutes over Berawa.
