Things to do in Bali

Scuba Diving in Bali

Guided scuba dives and courses on Bali's wrecks, walls and drift sites, for both certified divers and first-timers doing an introductory dive.

Amed and Tulamben on the east coast (including the USAT Liberty wreck), Menjangan Island's walls in the north-west, and the Nusa Penida channel for mola-mola and manta encounters.

Bring your certification card and logbook. Nusa Penida diving involves cold thermoclines and strong currents and is not suited to new divers. Leave at least 18–24 hours between your last dive and your flight home.

Planning scuba diving in Bali

  • Tulamben's USAT Liberty wreck is a shore dive in shallow water, which makes it one of the easiest world-class dive sites to reach anywhere in Asia.
  • Nusa Penida's channel is cold and current-driven. Mola-mola season runs roughly July to October and manta sightings are year-round at Manta Point.
  • Leave at least 18 to 24 hours between your final dive and your flight home, and bring your certification card — operators do ask for it.
