Bali's dry season, April to October, overlaps the German summer holidays, so July and August are the peak. Fares also spike around Christmas, New Year and Easter. April, May, September and October combine reliable weather with noticeably lower prices.
Book two to four months ahead for the best economy fares from Frankfurt and Munich, a little earlier for regional airports where there is less capacity to Bali.
Check the baggage and transit rules of the operating carrier, not just the ticket seller. Gulf and Turkish routings usually include generous checked baggage, while cheap self-transfer combinations often do not and leave you re-checking bags mid-journey.
