Bali travel costs from Australia
What actually drives the cost of a Bali holiday from Australia - and where the savings are.
The biggest single variable in an Australian Bali trip is usually airfare, and the second is accommodation standard. Both move sharply with school holiday dates.
Flights. Direct services operate from several Australian cities. Fares typically rise for December-January and mid-year school holidays. Perth and Darwin have the shortest flight times; east-coast departures are longer and usually dearer.
Accommodation. Bali covers the full range, from simple guesthouses to five-star beachfront resorts and private-pool villas. Villas often work out well for families and groups because you are paying per villa rather than per room.
On the ground. Food, drivers, spa treatments and activities are generally inexpensive relative to Australia, though beach clubs and high-end restaurants in Seminyak and Canggu can approach Australian prices.
Extras worth budgeting for. Airport transfers, travel insurance, an eSIM or local SIM, day tours, and any departure or tourist levies.
